Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone in Boston?
Mr. Miller said that … some landlords stop cashing checks for less-legitimate reasons.
“One thing you’ll sometimes see is an unscrupulous landlord trying to take advantage of a tenant’s insecurity, lack of knowledge or lack of discipline by holding off cashing the rent checks,” Mr. Miller said. “They’ll try to fake out the tenant by not cashing the checks, and then try to evict him for not paying the rent.”
If your landlord stops cashing your rent checks, there are things you can do to protect yourself.
