The phone rings in Tom’s Beacon Hill apartment, sometime after dawn, it’s a piercing sound like a hot kettle. Outside his apartment window, he see’s a sugar sky, above the Beacon Hill brick apartment buildings.

Its Jen, his high school sweat heart on the phone, she has a southern voice that hits him like a whisper on his neck.

Suddenly, his alarm clock goes off. He wakes up from his deep sleep.
