Each year, lexicographers at Oxford Languages, the maker of the Oxford English Dictionary, choose a single word or phrase to define the past 12 months.
But this year, they couldn’t pick just one.
This year Oxford opted to highlight dozens of terms, including ” “Blursday.”
To come up with the featured lingo, researchers analyzed Oxford’s language database, containing billions of words, to see how many times a term was used over the past year — then compared that to the previous year.
