The condo tower construction boom adding thousands of units to
Boston’s skyline faces a new challenge that could prove as serious for developers as a softening
real estate market – runaway construction costs.
Skyrocketing building costs could derail
some big high-rise plans that are waiting to move into construction, industry insiders warn.
Among those projects facing increased costs are the Province Tower condos, near
Government Center, Arthur Winn’s Columbus Center mega-development, and parts of the Fan Pier
redevelopment.
