A recent email from one of my readers/clients about his Charles River Park condo:
I’m sitting on my balcony in Charles River Park looking out towards the river and I fully realize how great my city life is. Having returned from a quick walk to Wholefoods, dinner is ready to prepare in my kitchen. I could have chosen to live in any number of complexes throughout Boston, but this seemed like the best fit. Everything is comfortable and easy. All my basic needs are a short walk away. The open spaces of the Esplanade, public transportation, shopping, and restaurants are minutes from my doorstep. Laundry is located in the building and the 24-hour concierge can attend to any other need I might have.
It is a joy to walk into the newly renovated lobby and have the elevator whisk me up 10 floors to my apartment. I once lived on the top unit of a four-story walk-up in another neighborhood. Climbing the stairs was not much fun after a grueling day. Now when I want a workout I have access to the Charles River Park fitness club and pool.
Another great feature in this fantastic West End complex is the parking. A friend can drive over on the weekends and park for $9 a day. We can go out and explore the city at our leisure. The buildings were constructed in 1964 when this neighborhood was essentially barren. People were fleeing the city, but now the community is vibrant and exciting. While the buildings are over 55 years old, the units are updated and modern with plenty of closet and storage space.
I used to see the iconic “If you lived here you would be home now” sign while sitting in traffic on Storrow Drive and wistfully think. Now I live here and I love it.
