There is both beauty and sadness in the month March. As the morning gray skies slowly clear, to yet another cold windy day. I can see that the the lake is no longer frozen over—cracked and splintered by the spring sun. And though cold and bitter as it was, the light began to return. Days longer and nights shorter. Bringing a slow warmth back to the earth.

But still, April loomed in the distance. And while the backyard shows spurts of green, the snow remained in many spots. Perhaps, more than the rest of winter. Yet, with the looming snow, the more exciting it will be to hear the cracking bats of baseball and the calming spring weather. Waiting so closely on the horizon.
