Radar Logic’s August 2007 Monthly Housing Market Report has been released.
It shows that real estate prices for the Boston MSA dropped between August, 2006 and August, 2007.
This if for the Boston “Metropolitan Statistical Area” (MSA), not for the city of Boston, itself, and therefore covers a wide area, from Quincy to New Hampshire, over 4 million people.
Radar Logic’s reports are worthwhile because their data includes single-family homes, both new and resales, as well as all condo sales.
The much-vaunted S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices does not.
Of the country’s 25 largest MSA’s, seven had price increases over the past year and 18 had price decreases. Prices increased over 6.0% in the Seattle, Washington MSA and dropped over 12% in San Diego, California and Sacramento, California.
