Boston broker thoughts: Tom Brady and the circle of life
Did you watch Tom Brady’s last football game? Hopefully not. The game was so bad that:
NFL insider Ari Meirov, FOX has decided to cut away from the Bucs-49ers game in most networks and switch to the ongoing game between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks.. Most fans are grateful for the change. (As Tom Brady looked terrible.)
The 49ers lead the Buccaneers 35-0 in the middle of the third quarter. No NFL team has ever overcome a 35-point deficit.
NFL Football
Now don’t give wrong I love Tom Brady, as most of my Boston real estate broker friends, but for the first-time I realized Tom’s best days are behind him. I hope for his sake this is his last year playing in the NFL.
Football Nostalgia
Prior to the game they showed Tom Brady walking the San Francisco football field at 10am (It was a 4pm game). It evoked nostalgia memories of when he did the same thing when he wore a New England Patriots football uniform.
Out of curiosity I looked up the word nostalgia: The term ‘nostalgia’ derives from the Greek words nostos (return) and algos (pain). The literal meaning of nostalgia, then, is the suffering evoked by the desire to return to one’s place of origin.
The ironic aspect of this game is the contracting differences and similarities of these two quarterbacks. Both started out as back up QB, both got a shot because of the starting QB became injured. Both were low draft picks, ect…
The difference Brady is currently 45 years and 130 days old. Brock Purdy is 22 years and 349 days old. This 22-year and 146-day age gap is the largest gap between starting QBs since at least 1950.
