Beacon Hill brokers hike to the library

Rain drips down my forehead. I pause. Looking up, I see that the traffic light on the corner of Cambridge and High Street almost in reach, indicating the half-way point.

I must go on. Trudging on, I move my left foot. Then, I move my right. Left. Right. Left. Right. Left . . .

Slowly, it dawns on me. I have a Beacon Hill apartment showing at 2pm. Sure enough, I need to turn around. I sigh and trudge back home. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll hike to the library.
