A story of loose change

I hate it when I do laundry in a hurry, because I’m running late for a Beacon Hill condo showing.

I take the clothes out of the washer, throw them into the dryer move the dial for 40 minutes and press the on button. I than realize there was stowaway change in the pants pockets, a quarter or dime or maybe a penny or two, slips out of pant pockets at the first rotation and relentlessly pounds the metal drum.

I curse at myself for not checking the pants pockets first, I open the dryer door I have to throw the still-wet clothes on top of the drier — my jeans are tangled with the sweatpants and towels — to retrieve the shiny pounding noise-makers. All because I forgot once again about one of my Beacon Hill condo showings.

I have trouble breathing, worrying about my memory faculties.
