The credit crunch and a lack of buyers have put New England’s first over-55 community for gays and lesbians on hold.
“We decided that the real estate and lending markets were not favorable right now and we’re going to sit tight for a while,” said David Aronstein, president of Stonewall Communities.
The development was proposed for Miner Street, between The Fenway and Brookline, in the rapidly improving Audubon Circle neighborhood.
It would have included 53 one- and two-bedroom units restricted to residents over age 55, but not restricted by sexual orientation.
