Paul Restuccia of the Herald profiles Quincy, today.
Quincy is around 8 miles from downtown Boston. The downtown area has its attractive parts – you could spend an entire weekend in Quincy and enjoy yourself, without ever having to leave it to find something to do.
“You get a good deal here, said Bob McMahan, who recently paid just $384,000 for a two-bedroom new-construction condo with 13-foot ceilings, a high-end kitchen and two deeded parking spaces.
“(My) place would cost almost double in the South End – and Quincy Center is a great location,â€? said McMahan, 44. “It’s got everything within walking distance: restaurants, supermarkets and shops. They’re doing a good job bringing Quincy Center back to life.â€?
True, that.
If you can handle the commute, either by subway or Southeast Expressway, Quincy is worth a look.
Recently, I checked out the Granite Lofts with a client. I thought they did a really great job on the renovation. I liked the prices, a lot. Some of the units have terrible views, and a couple of them face a busy street, but otherwise, worth the money, in my opinion.
