Today, a Beacon Hill real estate broker told me that his home inspection failed. The reason? Because of a radon test. Apparently, due to the radom that emits from the kitchen granite counter tops. According to the home inspection report, the radon in the kitchen was three times as high as the radon in her bedroom. In other words, the lung cancer risk at that level was nearly as high as smoking 10 cigarettes a day. Wow!
I’m not sure I buy this, so I Googled “granite counter tops and radon” I came up with 31,000 articles. Here’s one: CBS News.
Oh No! I hope I don’t get sued from a buyer because of kitchen counter tops? What would happen to me if the seller or a tenant was smoking near the kitchen counter tops. *Gulp*
