Beacon Hill condo broker who lacks chivalry

I’m at my kitchen table in Winchester. 

I was just reflecting on the episode that happened to me last night.

When we were entering a restaurant on Charles St., I forgot to open the door for Mona.

She told me, “I wasn’t very chivalrous.” 

My comeback line was weak, I said,  “I don’t even know what word Chivalry means.“

She told me, “look it up. Mr. Beacon Hill Realtor”

So I did.

The term “chivalry” derives from the Old French term chevalerie, which can be translated as “horse soldiery“. Originally, the term referred only to horse-mounted men, from the French word for horse, cheval, but later it became associated with knightly ideals.

So, you probably can guess where this story is going.

While on the couch watching Netflix, she told me, “Get off of me, What are you doing?”

“Ugh … chivalry.”
