Is Beacon Street in Beacon Hill safe? What can you tell me about Beacon Street?  These are questions that I received today from one of my Boston condo blog readers today.

Where is Beacon Street in Beacon Hill?

Beacon Street begins at the corner of Tremont Street and School Street  at the edge of Beacon Hill, which is between Govt Center and the Boston Common. From that point, it goes up Beacon Hill for a block where it meets Park Street in front of the Massachusetts State House. From that intersection it descends into Beacon Hill as a two-lane, bi-directional street until it reaches Charles Street. At Charles Street, it becomes a one-way avenue that runs forward to Back Bay.

Is Beacon Street in Beacon Hill safe?

Yes. Beacon Street in Beacon Hill is a safe street with its gas lit lanterns. However, across from Beacon Street is the Boston Common and Public Garden, I’d be cautions of walking there at night. On the positive side, in the last few years the lighting has improved.
