This Baby Boomer Is Not Downsizing
Moving to Florida sounds like a dream to many retirees, especially with the Boston winter around the corner but my Baby Boomer friend Peter have no intensions on going anywhere — no matter what society expects. His family is surrounded by the best sports teams in the place where they raised their kids, and Peter also said, “I like my big TV screen and I want to keep it here.”
Peter’s wife chimed in and said, “I want to have a place where my family can comfortably visit me, and my current home already offers that. It seems a strong bet that hosting a big holiday dinner would be out of the question in a smaller home.” Plus she wants to keep loved ones close, especially during the holidays, and that would be out of the question in a smaller home. “Out-of-town guests might need to stay at a hotel when they come to visit. Where’s the holiday coziness in that?”
Sorry, Boomers are Making It Hard for Millennials to Buy
The reality is Baby Boomers in New England are living longer, and they want to make the most of their active retirement years — and millennials in too-small Beacon Hill apartments aren’t their problem.
As a Baby boomer myself I feel bad that I had to tell you this.
