This weekend’s Boston Homes newspaper included a front-page article on five new homes currently under construction in the South End.
Up until last year, 298 Shawmut Ave was known near and far as the home to the Waltham Tavern, where “Ladies Invited” greeted all comers. Including those looking for their next fix of crystal meth or trying to outrun the cops.
Those days are just a memory, now.
Geno Ranaldi and his Huntington Group is currently rehabbing the historic Victorian townhouse into five distinct condominium homes.
Geno has met multiple times with the South End Landmarks Commission to get the exterior details just right. An exhaustive process, his hard work has paid off and can be seen whenever you walk by the building, at the corner of Shawmut Ave and Waltham Street.
Just as impressive are the interiors, being designed by Chris Benson of Benson Interiors, according to the story in Boston Homes.
The properties have yet to hit the Multiple Listing Service, but when they do, prices and dimensions should be as follows:
Unit #1, 600-square foot +/- one bedroom with private entrance
Unit #2, 550-square foot +/- one bedroom with private entrance
Unit #3, 1200-square foot +/- two bedroom / two bathroom
Unit #4, 1390-square foot +/- two bedroom / 2 1/2 bathroom, deck off living room & deck off guest bedroom,
Unit #5 (PH), 1628-square foot +/- two bedroom / 2 1/2 bathroom, roof deck & back deck
