A couple years ago, Corcoran Jennison Cos. proposed a massive mixed-use project for land near the old Columbia Point housing project. The land borders Boston’s Dorchester and South Boston neighborhoods and benefits from being close to the ocean, a supermarket, and public transportation.

Gale International’s Managing Partner John Hynes was interviewed by Banker & Tradesman, this week. The interview took place prior to his company’s announcement that it was suspending work on One Franklin, nee the Filene’s building.
He seems to have a logical and reasonable outlook on the building process in Boston:

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that work on the One Franklin multi-use project has stopped, indefinitely.
John Hynes, the lead developer of the Filene’s project in Boston’s Downtown Crossing, has told Boston Mayor Thomas Menino that the project is on hold indefinitely.
