There is an error in this report. There is no neighborhood in Boston titled the “Seaport District”. It is officially titled by the city of Boston “The South Boston Waterfront”.

John, Thank you for providing this report for free.

    Hello.

I am reporting data from MLSPIN. MLSPIN uses the term “Seaport District”, as I make clear.

If it’s such a big deal to you, stranger who will never use me as a real estate agent, I’ll call it both, in the future.

You are going to delete furture comments this person? Seems harsh. What is so wrong with what they said? In fact, they were quite polite and thanked you for providing the report for free.

EDITOR: Eh, what do I care? Call it whatever you want. If it makes him happy, I’ll abbreviate it and show it both ways.

MY EARLIER RESPONSE: The neighborhood in question is not called “South Boston Waterfront” except by those at City Hall and except for people who live in South Boston who now want to lay claim the area.

The area in question had been branded “Seaport District” in the early nineties by City Hall, when they first unveiled plans for the “100 acres” of land. Much of this area is landfill, so it’s not as if any name has been put on the area for very long.

A couple years’ ago, the Mayor rebranded it “South Boston Waterfront” in an effort to appease City Counselor Jimmy Kelly and neighbors.

I don’t see quite the way they do. To me, South Boston has, and always will, be defined by the area from 1st street to 11th street.

BTW, John Hynes and Gale International are building a massive project near the waterfront. They are calling it “Seaport Square”.

I agree with you about what constitutes South Boston… I would not refer to Fort Point Channel as South Boston, even though I know that technically it is.

In terms of my saying that you were being “harsh,” I did not know the history of his postings… I only saw you as no longer allowing him (or her?) to post based on the one post in this topic, which to me was not so offensive in and of itself.
