Bob’s Big Boy to close
I mean, Bob The Chef’s, I mean Bob’s Southern Bistro, is closing.
According to the Globe:
Bob’s Southern Bistro, a South End (sic) hotspot known for its tasty soul food and nightly jazz and for years a magnet for the city’s African-American community, is being sold to a new owner who wants to turn it into an upscale lounge for college students and young professionals ..
… [Darryl] Settles, whose name has been associated with Boston’s jazz scene over the past decade, told the Globe yesterday that he is selling the South End institution to Malcolm Aalders, a 28-year-old Cleveland native who recently moved to Boston from the Netherlands.
Settles will remain in the restaurant business - he currently co-owns the new and wildly popular Beehive restaurant, in the South End.
