   Love the blog. Hate the industry.

   My comments in the poll did not post. The

   author of the blog not withstanding, I completely see why this survey put RE agents/realtors

   (interchangeable) at the low end of prestige.

   In my house search, I can say that 9/10

   Realtors were the equivalent of low grade used car salespeople- little/no knowledge of product,

   personally obnoxious, unstated conflicts of interests, the list goes on and on.
   Many of these

   people if they were not selling homes would be bagging groceries- and that is not an exaggeration.

   One realtor we “dealt” with was a landscaper just 2 years ago.

   Any industry that depends on

   the control of information and has built-in conflicts of interests will be gone in 10

   years.

   The American people will be much better off for it when we are freed of the shackles

   of the real estate industry cartel.

   I might actually have a higher

   default opinion of generic “agents” than Realtors(TM) because there is at least the chance that

   they chose not to be a Realtor(TM) because they didn’t want to drink the NAR Kool Aid.

   Realtors (TM) vs. generic agents? Who cares. As long as the entry barrier

   for the “profession” is so low that a high school diploma is not needed, there will be no respect

   for the “profession.”
