Michael Bloomberg: Medford’s Boston’s favorite son
Shocking news, right up there with the collapse in the Ted Williams’ Tunnel.
In an article in today’s New York Times, the mother of New York City’s mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg, Charlotte Bloomberg, now 97, broke the news that, contrary to almost universal belief, the mayor wasn’t born in Medford, Massachusetts, but in Boston, Massachusetts.
“He was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on Cambridge Street in Brighton,” Mrs. Bloomberg said.
For the first two years of his life, he lived at 100 Brainerd Road, in Allston. Then, for two years, the family lived on Atherton Road, in Brookline. Only at age four, did the family move to Medford, where the future mayor lived, until after college.
