New development to rise at Wonderland?
Maybe a good idea.
Scott Van Voorhis writes in today’s Herald that Wonderland dog track owner Charles Sarkis might be thinking of closing the track and selling the land, on which condos and single-family homes would be built.
Of course, the most obvious thing would be to use the 30-acres of land for office, retail, commercial and industrial space, but maybe there is enough demand to justify a residential component. I’m not sure.
Some people think so:
The track’s location, just minutes from Boston and near both major roadways and the Wonderland MBTA stop, also makes it a catch at a time when “transit-orientated development is the new buzzword, said David Begelfer, head of the local chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
