Housing Tracker provides data on asking prices, inventory for Boston housing market

Great website with data on the Boston housing market.
You can find out average list prices now, versus three, six, and twelve months ago, as well as trends in prices and inventory levels.
The more information, the better. I hope he adds median list prices, as well as sold data, as these are as important.
Also, the […]

Where will old people go before they die?

Suppose you’re about to turn 65 you’re going to retire, and you have a lot of money. Or even better, you’re turning 62, 57, or 55 and have enough set aside to retire, now (I’ll be 80 years old before I retire, based on my financial advisor’s calculations).
Do you want to move? Where? […]

Old neighbors greet new developments in East Boston

How’s that for a headline? I should be a copy writer.
East Boston has always seemed quite remote to most people. Either that, or people thought of it as one big airport (which is kind of is, isn’t it?).
There are many new developments going up in East Boston. As well, many triple deckers […]

The horror of “owning” in a co-op building

Thank god we don’t have many co-ops in Boston. I’d go crazy, as a real estate agent.
One of the unique things about a co-op is, as you may know from celebrity cases in the news, the co-ops board gets to decide whether or not to let a buyer buy. It’s ridiculous. In […]

What are your options if your condo is never built?

Las Vegas has experienced a bit of a slowdown in real estate sales. So much so that several development projects have been canceled, outright.
Suppose you put down a deposit on a condo project, months before the developer broke ground, and then suppose the developer changed his mind, and decided to not build, at all.
What […]

The fluffy words of the real estate business

Real estate agents have often used colloquisms when describing properties (”quaint” and “cosy” really mean “small”, “put finishing touches on” means “it’s a dump”).
Now, the general public has started using such phrases. People argue whether the real estate market will “cool”, “pause”, or experience a “meltdown”.
A linguist has even put together his own index, […]

Welcome

Welcome!

My name is John A Keith. I am a real estate broker in Boston. Along with my team of agents, I help buyers and sellers of homes throughout Boston, including the South End, Back Bay, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.

There is a lot of useful information on my site, starting with the blog entries, in the left-hand column. I update my site three or four times a day, so check back, often.

On my site, you can search through all of the listings in MLS. Complete details on the listings, including addresses and Google maps, are available if you sign-up (no obligation inferred / implied).

You can review news by topic, by clicking on any one of the "tags" or "categories". You can also review news in the archive, by month. See details, below.

If you are thinking of moving to Boston and want to learn more about each neighborhood and search through listings by neighborhood, choose a neighborhood from the table of contents, below.

Also, you can click through on links to more information of value to buyers and sellers.

And, if you click on the "new projects" link you can learn about all the new developments under construction and recently completed, throughout the city of Boston.

Please contact me for more information or to learn about how I can assist you as a buyer's agent or with selling your home.

If you would like to learn more about me, please read these articles and columns.
