Bubbles and stuff…

If you want to read a good analysis of what’s going on in the Massachusetts home & condo sales market, I can highly recommend the Massachusetts Association of Realtors’ website.
They collect monthly sales data and compare it to previous months’ and years’ results.

Top floors of new Chinatown apartment building will be condos, instead

They just recently tore down the old Gaiety Theater (which was news to me, but I haven’t been down in Chinatown for awhile).  Now, don’t be thinking you might have gone to the movies there, recently - it was nothing but a old concrete building, mostly boarded up, and in serious disrepair, for years.  Some […]

Housing is expensive, so save money by building FEDEX furniture

Okay, this is kind of weird.
Apparently, someone has outfitted their entire apartment with furniture made of FEDEX shipping boxes (and a good amount of packing tape).
And, now they’re selling the furniture to other people (can I get the FEDEX furniture shipped UPS, is the obvious question).

He will make you a couch, a chair, a bed, […]

The Herald has an interesting story about one of the old theaters in the area.  The Bijou Theater was built and managed by […]

City of Boston sitting on thousands of parcels of land

The City of Boston is a huge landowner.   Most of the surplus land and buildings were foreclosed on because the owners didn’t pay their taxes.
These properties could easily be sold off and used to build new housing for people of all incomes.
The City of New York has done this.

Homebuying 101 course offered by City of Boston

The city offers first-time homebuyers a great "Homebuying 101" class, covering everything from mortgages, budgeting, shopping for a home, and the benefits of using an attorney, etc.
The class is ten hours long, and is held in different neighborhoods, every couple of months.

When not to buy a house

Bankrate.com has a great little article about when not to buy a house.
Reasons not to buy:
Job shaky? Don’t buy.Into investing? Don’t buy.Dreams too big for budget? Don’t buy.Damaged credit? Don’t buy.
By Michael D Larson, Bankrate.com

My name is John A Keith. I am a real estate broker in Boston. Along with my team of agents, I help buyers and sellers of homes throughout Boston, including the South End, Back Bay, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.

There is a lot of useful information on my site, starting with the blog entries, in the left-hand column. I update my site three or four times a day, so check back, often.

On my site, you can search through all of the listings in MLS. Complete details on the listings, including addresses and Google maps, are available if you sign-up (no obligation inferred / implied).

You can review news by topic, by clicking on any one of the "tags" or "categories". You can also review news in the archive, by month. See details, below.

If you are thinking of moving to Boston and want to learn more about each neighborhood and search through listings by neighborhood, choose a neighborhood from the table of contents, below.

Also, you can click through on links to more information of value to buyers and sellers.

And, if you click on the "new projects" link you can learn about all the new developments under construction and recently completed, throughout the city of Boston.

Please contact me for more information or to learn about how I can assist you as a buyer's agent or with selling your home.

If you would like to learn more about me, please read these articles and columns.
